Ex-Project star Meshel Laurie shows glam new look in Instagram photo

ABC star Meshel Laurie has shown her impressive weight loss transformation in a photograph posted to Instagram this week.

The popular podcast host, TV personality and comedian wowed fan with the snap, which shows herself alongside Professor Richard Bassed, who featured in her book CSI Told You Lies.

Along with the image she wrote: “Hanging with Chapter 4 Superstar Professor Richard Bassed.”

Fans of the 48-year-old were amazed by how she looked, with one writing: “What a beautiful photo of you Meshel.”

Another said: Wow Meshel you look amazing, truly glowing. Can’t wait to get my hands on your book.”

More comments included “looking fab” and “are you ageing in reverse?”

Meshel in recent times has moved into crime reporting and started her hugely popular podcast Australian True Crime.

She has been undergoing a lifestyle transformation, including undergoing a gastric bypass surgery in 2016, and rarely posts photos of herself on social media.

She wrote of the surgery in her book Buddhism for the Unbelievably Busy: “I decided to undergo weight loss surgery (gastric bypass) in late 2016, and I’m so glad I did.

“Yes, it’s embarrassing to have to go to that length to rein my body in, but I’d rather be embarrassed than unable to walk.

“In a way I feel lucky to have had such clear signals from my body that I needed to turn my health burner back on, when I still had time to do something about it.”

Last month she showed her slimmer figure while posing for a snap in Melbourne. And back in July fans were also wowed when she debuted a stunning look in all black.

Laurie made headlines last year after a bizarre Facebook stoush over blackface in which she claimed her account had been hacked.

The drama began when a comment supposedly made by Laurie surfaced in a tweet made by fellow comedian Nina Oyama, who accused Laurie of being a “Karen”, a common stereotype used to describe a racist white woman.

Oyama’s tweet read “so it looks like Meshel Laurie officially came out of the Karen Closet today,” sharing a post by a woman named Catherine Bouris who had screenshot an exchange on Facebook in which Laurie remarked that blackface has no cultural relevance in Australia.

Responding to the uproar, Laurie assured followers she was asleep when the comment was allegedly posted at 1am on Saturday.

“I didn’t write this comment. I don’t understand what’s happened, but I didn’t write it. I couldn’t see it on my Facebook page,” Laurie wrote.

Laurie then went on to apologise to the woman involved in the post, Alana Dowdell, who Laurie – or her hacker – tagged in the comment.

Meshel is best known for a sprinkling of appearances on The Project over the years along with her sellout out comedy shows.
